Summary
Manages design, development, implementation, and maintenance of Oracle database.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes database requirements; develops detailed database design specifications to meet identified requirements.
- Reviews and analyzes user needs; determines equipment and software requirements for solutions to problems.
- Installation, configuration and upgrading of Oracle server software and related products.
- Manages and implements database security and user accounts.
- Manage Database design and implementation.
- Designs and implements backup and recovery strategies and procedures.
- Evaluate Oracle features and Oracle related products.
- Assists with the design and development of data models as needed.
- Assists with the development and implementation of database standards and methodologies.
- Perform database and application tuning and performance monitoring.
- Researches, recommends, and implements all database software upgrades.
- Manages accounts and passwords; changes and updates as needed.
- Perform general technical trouble shooting and give consultation to development teams.
- Interface with Oracle Corporation for technical support.
- Patch Management and Version Control.
- On a daily basis analyzes and reports on database metrics; administers and controls data resources; monitors and ensures database integrity, security, and performance; and implements tools to improve database performance.
- Investigates and thoroughly understands developments in database administration and computer technology.
- Implement and maintain database security (create and maintain users and roles, assign privileges).
- Setup and maintain documentation and standards.
- Plan growth and changes (capacity planning).
- Work as part of a team and provide 7x24 support when required.
- Assists with training and problem solving as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
Qualifications
- Minimum bachelor's degree (B.S.) in related field or equivalent.
- Seven or more years related experience or equivalent.
- Must have a working knowledge of data modeling; database administration problems and requirements; and database analysis and design procedures, techniques, and implementation.
- May be certified as an Oracle DBA. See Oracle Certification Program.
