DC POWER SYSTEMS APPOINTED EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTOR OF SOLMETRIC'S SUNEYETM

New On-Site Solar Data Collection And Analysis Tool Begins Shipping in October '06

DC Power Systems has been appointed by Solmetric as the exclusive distributor of the SunEyeTM, their innovative, new solar data collection and analysis tool. "In the world of solar energy designers and installers, the Solmetric SunEyeTM is to the Solar PathfinderTM as the calculator is to the abacus,"  Says David Michalek, General Manager of DC Power Systems.   "We're pleased that Solmetric selected DC Power Systems as the exclusive distributor of such an important new technology."

As the cost of utility-supplied electricity continues to climb, photovoltaic systems are popping up everywhere.  Homes, businesses, even golf courses are taking advantage of regional and national government rebates to install PV systems and reduce utility bills.  "Unlike renewable energy incentives in the past, with rebates based upon the total cost of each installation, newly adopted rebate programs are often performance based, meaning they pay based upon the expected or actual energy output of the system."  Says Willard MacDonald, President of Solmetric.  "The incentive is bigger than ever to maximize energy output and efficiency, which by necessity, requires better analysis in the design stage."

The handheld Solmetric SuneyeTM, used by PV system designers and installers during the planning stages of each new system, uses an integrated fish-eye lens and digital camera to automatically detect and record shade-causing obstructions and overlay that electronic data on a location-specific sunpath chart.  By analyzing data from several potential locations, the SuneyeTM increases the designer's ability to choose an optimal location and orientation for the photovoltaic array, and more accurately estimate overall system output.  With the added capability of downloading the data to a computer for analysis, the Solmetric SuneyeTM automates a previously cumbersome process.  "The instant scenario analysis allowed by the SuneyeTM will finally turn a seat-of-the-pants decision into a real science."  Says David Michalek.
